KATHMANDU: As many as 26 Nepali Congress lawmakers on Friday expressed their reservation over the Local Body Restructuring Commission’s modus operandi on the collection of opinion and suggestions over the restructuring of Province No. 2 in the Capital.
Issuing a five-point statement today, the lawmakers from Dhanusha, Mahottari, Udayapur, Morang, Saptari, Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Siraha, Chitwan and Rupandehi demanded that opinion and suggestions regarding local restructuring be collected from political parties, communities and people’s representatives in the respective districts.
“We object to the fact that the Commission… has been inviting lawmakers from the districts in hotels of the centre (Capital) and receiving suggestions and permissions from them here,” they said.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers also said service delivery should be considered at the centre while defining borders and numbers of local bodies.
